JOHN CENA IN CHINA: WWE SUPERSTAR ON LANGUAGE, CULTURE AND COMFORT IN EAST ASIA

John Cena has played down concerns that he is set to retire from wrestling.

The 16-time world champion instead provided his strongest hint yet that he plans to be back on WWE TV before Christmas - once production finishes on a film is working on in Shanghai.

Cena, 41, has been based in China as he stars in Project X alongside action movie legend Jackie Chan.

His last appearance in a WWE ring came in April when he defeated Triple H at the Greatest Royal Rumble, weeks after losing to The Undertaker in an impromptu match at WrestleMania 34.

Is John Cena retiring? WWE fans fear the worst after former world champion posts cryptic message

Cena has not been seen on regular WWE TV since before WrestleMania and some fans feared he would retire following a recent cryptic Twittermessage.

But ahead of his WWE return this week at Super Show-Down in Melbourne in a tag team match alongside Bobby Lashley against Kevin Owens and Elias, Cena has confirmed his movie work in the Far East should be completed within the next two months - and that would open the door to huge comeback.

“Travel in the WWE is amazingly relentless but it’s only because we have an audience that’s so spread out," he said speaking in a video, posted on WWE.com.
