Veteran wrestler John Cena has been given a direct entry into WWE World Cup which will take place next month at WWE Crown Jewel in Saudi Arabia. Four superstars each from Raw and Smackdown will be competing against each other to determine the best wrestler. Raw decided to host preliminary matches to determine the four wrestlers but even before the start, Cena was given a direct entry into the competition.
Recently, there were talks that he might announce his retirement. He had reflected the same in a tweet. On Saturday last week in Australia, he teamed up with Bobby Lashley against Kevin Owens and Elias for a tag team match. That tie was expected to be his last WWE competition. However, he has confirmed his participation at Crown Jewel, also confirming that he is not retiring from WWE anytime soon.
The former WWE champion hardly makes his in-ring appearances on a regular basis. On Saturday, he appeared with a new hairdo, which attracted more attention than his in-ring heroics where he did the task in less than a minute after being tagged in.
Meanwhile, Kurt Angle has also joined Cena in the World Cup match. He won the battler royal organised on WWE Raw. Until the completion of the match, he kept his face covered and the fans didn't know who he was.
After sending Baron Corbin out of the ring, he revealed his identity. Angle hasn't made his comeback as a General Manager but as a competitor who will be in line to win the World Cup match.
There were already signs of Angle looking forward to an in-ring comeback after he was sent on a vacation by Stephanie McMahon, who appointed Corbin as the Acting General Manager of Raw in the month of August.
