Just when you thought that it was safe to come out of your home because the Federation had fought off the Borg, the Scandinavians, or Nokia in this case, raise the threat level again by creating the BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset that uses NFC to frictionlessly pair devices in fractions of a second, and make wearers of such technology appear to have been assimilated. NFC doesn't just do payments. In fact, NFC has a whole host of other uses and one of the lesser known areas that is expected to explode in NFC is the use of the technology to pair Bluetooth devices. Uses range from NFC-enabled speakers to your car stereo, from wireless routers to crazy things like NFC-enabled stoves that when connected can push a timer alert to your phone to tell you to take the pie out of the oven. However, let's stick with products that will be available soon. When Nokia announced the N9, its Nokia NFC Play 360 speakers and Nokia Wireless Music Receiver MD-310 got all the attention, but they weren't the only NFC products that Nokia had splashed with some NFC magic.

Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset specs

Firstly, for your fashionista aesthetic concerns the Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset comes in silver and a matte black that matches the tone of the upcoming N9 NFC MeeGo smartphone. The headset also has the facility to connect to two phones simultaneously, so you can place one call on hold and answer another call on a different phone. Although we do know that some people have a phone for business and one for personal calls we can't imagine this feature would be used extensively, but it is included nonetheless, so it really isn't anything to whinge about. What we feel would be far more piratical would be if two people could each have a headset and connect on the same call.
The Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset is no battery hog and is stated to keep trucking for up to six hours while you chat about whatever it is you find to talk about for six hours. As far as a working day is concerned, it should handle your needs just fine. The standby battery power will last for up to 100 hours. If your friends call you big ears, no need for concern because you will be happy to hear that the Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset comes with small and large ear foams so it should fit your needs. Lastly, the Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset features advanced digital signal processing (DSP) for clear communication in noisy or windy environments. It should also get rid of the engine sound of your car if you are talking and driving.
This is the first in a slew of NFC-enabled Bluetooth headsets, and in the next year we can expect to see devices released from all major headset manufacturers. No release date has been announced as yet for the headset and there is nary a word about it shipping in the US, but as soon as we hear any news that specifies when you can be assimilated by the Nokia BH-219 NFC-enabled Bluetooth headset, we will be sure to let you know.
